The Forensic Investigators Program | Rice University | June 2025 | 40 Hours
The Forensic Investigators Program at Rice University was a five-day camp (June 23–27) that introduced me to multiple areas of forensic science through hands-on learning. I practiced crime scene evidence collection, lab safety, and forensic procedures while working on a mock case using real investigative techniques. The program included firearm and gunshot residue analysis, fingerprint analysis using powder and ink, and discussions with a professional latent fingerprint analyst. I also conducted gel electrophoresis, learning proper lab techniques, tool usage, and DNA analysis from a real case sample. Additionally, I explored forensic entomology, pathology, and toxicology, including determining time of death and analyzing a victim’s last meal. Overall, the experience was eye-opening and showed me how different forensic disciplines work together to solve real-world cases.

Genome Engineering | Rice University
I successfully completed the four-week Genome Engineering: Changing the Future of Medicine program at Rice University (May 18–June 15, 2025). The program introduced core concepts of genome editing, including CRISPR-Cas9, PAM sequences, gRNA, ethics, and future career pathways. Modules covered human genetics, CRISPR mechanisms, ethical considerations, and real-world applications in medicine, agriculture, and engineering. Coursework included evidence-based assignments, quizzes, and a final project in which I delivered a presentation and speech supported by diagrams and real-world examples. Overall, the program was eye-opening and strengthened my understanding of the transformative potential of genome engineering.

Digital Forensics | Texas A&M
I attended a four-day Digital Forensics camp at Texas A&M University (June 10–13, 2025), which was both challenging and highly educational. The program covered ethics in cybersecurity, digital forensics procedures, cybercrimes, hash values, cryptography, encryption, and defense-in-depth strategies. I gained hands-on experience with steganography, analyzed case studies, and explored different types of hackers and career paths in cybersecurity. The camp culminated in a mock trial where my team presented digital evidence in a mysterious death case, successfully convincing the jury to retain crucial evidence. Overall, the experience provided practical knowledge and insight into real-world applications of digital forensics in a collaborative and immersive environment.

Psychology in Our Everyday Lives | Rice University
The program focused on General Psychology and introduced me to key topics such as learning, memory, personality, and mental health. Through lectures, readings, and interactive activities, the material was engaging and easy to understand. For the final project, I created a presentation on the mental health effects of social media on teenagers, where I explored how constant online engagement can contribute to increased stress, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. This experience helped me understand how psychology can be applied to analyze real-world challenges that young people face today.
